In general Rangda is manifest as an antagonist, where Barong as a protagonist in the other side. Balinese people are believe that in life will always has 2 factors. Good - bad, right - wrong, left - right, top - bottom, etc. Nothing will look good when you cannot compare to the bad part. You cannot said on top when no one at the bottom. You're not won if nobody lose.
All are important and cannot remove and replace the other, but complete each other.
Those thing will keep the world in perfect balance.
At some temple rangda also as guardian and keep the purity of the place.
Taken From Ngusabha Kapat / Ngusabha Puseh at Selumbung, Karangasem
A once year ceremony at Pura Puseh Selumbung, Karangasem, east side of Bali Island.
The ceremony was held in about 2 weeks, during Purnama Kapat until Purnama Kalima (4th - 5th full moon in caka calendar).
